Moved: June Open Forum

June 9, 2011 3:03 pm in Updates by Wayne

Hey all!

We’re going to combine the June Open Forum with the happy hour for the OpenGovDC Conference. This is a cool one day event here in DC focused on Open Source Tools for Open Government (at which I’m moderating the Collaborative Code panel). Afterwards, they’re having a groovy happy hour at Hill Country BBQ (410 7th St NW DC). If you’re going to be around, please register and join us! It should be a very interesting crowd!

Hope you’re enjoying the heat!

Mapping and March Open Forum

March 1, 2011 7:54 am in Updates by Wayne

Just a quick note to let you know about two exciting things that are going on:

Mapping Political Communication

Ever wondered how laws are actually made? Yeah, us too. That’s why we’ve created a rough draft of all the data that will be required to build a map of how citizens, representatives, advocacy groups, lobbyists, and 9 other actors in the political system communicate with, and influence one another. Here’s a tip: we’ve covered more than just facts, ideas, and opinions!

Because it’s so complex, we’re going release it in stages so you can analyze it and tell us what we missed!

If you’re interested, join the Map Working Group or just head on over to the Google Spreadsheet and share your thoughts. This week: How do citizens influence all the other actors in the system?

March Open Forum

That’s right, the second Tuesday in March is only a week away. Come on out to Bar Dupont from 5:30 – 7:30  on March 8, have a drink, meet some new friends, and enjoy the conversation. Together, we just make a difference.

Here’s all the details. I’ll see you there!

Open Forum/Online Constituent Identity

January 25, 2011 1:41 pm in Updates by Wayne

Happy Hour? Open Forum.

Tuesday, Feb 8th, 5:30 – 7:30 at Bar Dupont, DC

“Happy hour” was not really an accurate description of what we’ve been doing at Bar Dupont every month. Sure, there’s drinking and networking and community building and all that, but the conversations have really been more in-depth than you’d get at your average happy hour. Consequently, I’m changing the moniker to one that is a little more appropriate. If you’re interested in the future of citizen engagement, you really should add this to your calendar:

February Open Forum

We’re meeting there every second Tuesday of the month.

Online Constituent Identity.

The Open Identity Exchange just awarded the Open Forum Foundation a grant to survey the citizen engagement and identity spaces and determine who is interested in solving this problem. If that’s you, join the Online Constituent Identity Working Group so you can be in the middle of all the action as it takes off.

Here’s the full info from the Open Forum site.
